Dr. Vodricka L. Epps

Pastor, Mount Calvary Baptist Church

The Rev. Dr. Vodricka L. Epps was born on October 12, 1972, in High Point, North Carolina, to the late Reverend Alfonzo Epps and Naomi V. Hart. His personal walk with Christ began at age 11 at the Living Water Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Adolph Thomas. 


He honorably served twenty-two years in the United States Army, retiring in September of 2013 at the rank of Master Sergeant from Fort Lee, Virginia. Vodricka united in holy matrimony with his friend and sweetheart, the former Tracy Gray, and their holy union has blessed them with three children, Ja’Lainna, Timothy, and Ameerah. 


Vodricka proclaimed his call into the ministry of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in September of 2011 and was licensed in the Gospel Ministry on March 25, 2012, at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church Colorado Springs, Colorado, under the leadership of Bishop Cleveland A. Thompson. Reverend Epps united with Rocky Branch Baptist Church of Dinwiddie, Virginia, under the leadership of Pastor Lynn G. Robinson in October of 2012 and was appointed as Associate Pastor, to which he was ordained and commissioned on January 12, 2014.


He was called to serve as the 11th Pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Hopewell, Virginia, on May 11, 2016, and preached his first sermon as Pastor of Mount Calvary Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the 11:00 a.m. worship hour. Pastor Epps has a tremendous desire for God’s word coupled with a love for God’s people. 


Dr. Epps is a learned man with an unwavering desire to be enriched intellectually and spiritually. His passion has led him to matriculate and be a recipient of a Bachelors of Arts Religion with Honors Degree from American Military University in Charles Town, West Virginia, the Master of Divinity Degree from Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia, the Master of Arts in Christian Education Degree from Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia and the Doctor of Ministry Expository Preaching Degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. 


As a consequence of his passion for teaching and leadership, in February of 2018, Dr. Epps became an Independent Certified Coach, Teacher, Trainer, and Speaker with The John Maxwell Team while simultaneously becoming the Founder and CEO of Eppic Enterprises LLC. A corporation committed to growing and developing leaders. In addition to being highly sought to train and teach leaders, Dr. Epps also serves as President of Hopewell Branch 7078 NAACP, President of Clergy Division Bethany Baptist Association, and Dean of Academic Studies for The Tabernacle Divinity School in Hopewell, Virginia.


His contagious spirit of generosity flows through every facet of his ministry as he seeks to encourage and empower all humanity through the timeless and transformative truths found in the Word of God. Dr. Epps is passionate about proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ, making the Word of God relevant in the lives of believers, and building the Kingdom of God in the congregation and community. His favorite Scripture is I Corinthians 1:9, “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord
